On March 4th, the world lost its biggest disability rights activist, Judy Heumann. Judy was often referred to as the “Mother of the Disability Rights Movement." At a young age, she was denied access to school, and since then she never stopped fighting for accessibility. She was the main force behind section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Judy was an incredible advocate who should be recognized for her work. You can learn more about her and her legacy by reading this NPR article or watching the film Crip Camp.
